Mini Archie's August Furtle Around The Blogosphere

Image
Hello! I don't feel like I've managed much this month, but when I look at the pictures I've taken, I realise I've grafted the toes of eight socks (two of which were half knitted, and two which were started from scratch this month), made good progress on another pair, and hand pieced three LV blocks!  You'll notice that all of these can (and have!) been done while sitting on the settee watching telly (I've been catching up with 'Suits' from the beginning and have watched all of seasons one, two, and three. Unfortunately, the channel which was showing them has stopped at the end of season three so I need to keep an eye out for them starting season four.) and drinking tea.  Except when it's been too hot to drink tea, of course.  Roll on autumn! Here's what I've been making this month: Every time I crop photos of these blocks, they turn blurry - very frustrating!  Which is why there's a lot of floor in these pictures! The came...

FAL Finish: Yet More Socks!

Image
These pair of socks are my third Q3 FAL finish and are item 15 on my  Q3 2019 FAL list  - I will be linking up to the  FAL finishes party  when the time comes.  These needed the most work of the three pairs as, at the start of the quarter, I was halfway down the leg on one and at the start of the heel flap on the other.  I love those purple, lime, blue, and pink stripes! Here they are together, ready for Mam's sock drawer this winter! Mini Archie announced to the world when all the socks were finished: Thanks for popping in!

FAL Finish: More Socks!

My second finish this quarter is this pair of socks, which were fun to knit - I love Opal sock yarn!  These also just needed the toes grafting and the ends darning in and fifteen minutes in front of the telly saw them finished and ready for their photo: These are item 14 on my Q3 2019 FAL list  and I will be linking up to the FAL finishes party when the time comes. Mini Archie has been practising his 'Teacayking': I is good at it, isn't I? *modest face* Thanks for popping in!

FAL Finish: Socks

Image
It's always nice to be able to record a finish nearer to the start of the quarter than the end, isn't it? This time I have three and I'm going to blog about them separately so they're ready to link up with the FAL finishes party when the time comes. My first finish is this pair of socks, which, at the start of the quarter, just needed the toe grafting and the ends darning in.  That's now done and I can proudly present my first Q3 finish! These are item 13 on my  Q3 2019 FAL list . My phone camera hates these socks and refuses to take a completely in-focus of them, no matter how many times I ask it... Mini Archie was on paw to help free the knitting needles: Thanks for popping in!

Mini Archie's July Furtle Around The Blogosphere

Image
Hello! I have no idea where the months keep going - I thought that writing a blog post at the end of each month would mean that I was more aware of the days/weeks passing, but each month I suddenly realise it's almost the last day of the month and Furtle Day has once again crept up on me. How does it do that?!  Although I can't say that last week passed particularly quickly - all that heat and sun isn't conducive to a pleasant life when you're ginger (well, 'strawberry blonde') with fair freckly skin and an absolute horror of being too warm or getting sunburnt... I have, however, managed quite a bit of hand piecing this month, mainly because I abandoned sock knitting (I tend to veer between the two but never manage to do both in the same day, for some reason) to give my shoulder and wrists a break.  Up until the end of April, I made an LV scrappy trip block a month and realised that if I could carry on at that rate, I would have made all the blocks by the ...

Mini Archie's June Furtle Around The Blogosphere

*rushes in* Sorry I'm late!  I clean forgot that yesterday was Saturday and that I needed to sort the Furtling post and link up ready for this morning.  Needless to say, I've had a stern talking to and received a very sharp prod  *rubs side* This month, I have ticked another two items off my Q2 FAL list  which is just as well as the end of the quarter is fast approaching (tomorrow, in fact) and up until now I'd only finished two things. On my list, I said I'd like to make two Lola pouches from an old coat of mine and a shirt from a charity shop and I hoped that they would both be the large version.  I didn't quite manage that as there wasn't enough fabric without piecing bits together (there were a lot of seams in that coat), but I did manage a large one: and a small one: And even eked out a small Bloem Basket  to become a travelling pouch for one of Mini Archie's chums, Mini Edward : Here they are all together: ...

Mini Archie's May Furtle Around The Blogosphere

Image
Hello!  Can you believe it's Furtling time again?!  I must apologise to last month's Furtlers - I try to visit and comment on each linked post, but May got away from me. I'll try harder this time...  (I did manage a mid-month blog post, but it seems that was at the expense of Furtler visiting. Something to remember for the future!) This month I finished two pairs of socks!  The first, which I posted about here , were for a friend and this second pair were for her boyfriend who has, apparently, being hankering after a pair of hand knit socks for a while now. It's always harder knitting for a pair of feet which aren't available for fittings, but these apparently fit beautifully, which is a huge relief as I was worried I'd have to have them sent back for alterations!  They're knitted from Opal yarn using a plain sock pattern (the one which comes free with Regia sock yarn) and I knitted the next size up from the feet they're for but kept to the foot le...

A Finish: Sunrise Socks

Image
I have two pairs of socks on this quarter's FAL list and I've finished the first pair!  They're for a friend who likes tailor-made knitted socks which fit just how she prefers so I consulted my copious notes from the previous 4 ply pair I made for her and knitted these, but with a little bit more room (two extra stitches) across the top of the foot. Aren't they a glorious colour?  Like having a sunrise at the end of your legs! This is item 15 on my Q2 list and my first finish of this quarter, which I'll be linking up when the time comes. Mini Archie has a new friend, Billy Fishermouse: Ahoy there!! A 'Mystery Luffly Person' arranged with Sue @wool.i.am  to send Billy to live with us - you can see the pictures of his arrival on my Instagram feed  here and here  (you don't need an instagram account to view them).  His arrival caused a flurry of measuring to see where he fitted in the family: From left: Alf, Mini Archie, Billy...
