Mini Archie's May Furtle Around The Blogosphere
Hello! Can you believe it's Furtling time again?! I must apologise to last month's Furtlers - I try to visit and comment on each linked post, but May got away from me. I'll try harder this time... (I did manage a mid-month blog post, but it seems that was at the expense of Furtler visiting. Something to remember for the future!)
This month I finished two pairs of socks! The first, which I posted about here, were for a friend and this second pair were for her boyfriend who has, apparently, being hankering after a pair of hand knit socks for a while now. It's always harder knitting for a pair of feet which aren't available for fittings, but these apparently fit beautifully, which is a huge relief as I was worried I'd have to have them sent back for alterations! They're knitted from Opal yarn using a plain sock pattern (the one which comes free with Regia sock yarn) and I knitted the next size up from the feet they're for but kept to the foot length of the size down. I have to say that my Socker's Rule was very, very handy for these socks!
Here are the socks, which are item 16 on my Q2 FAL list. I'll link them up when the time comes.
Slightly fuzzy close up of the colours |
One day, as I was getting towards the end of the socks, I accompanied Mam to the local yarn shop (she's going through a knitted dishcloth phase at the moment and had run out of cotton yarn) and these accompanied me home. They'll be for Mam for next winter so I've plenty of time to knit them! All I need to do is decide which to knit first...
Billy needed a jacket to go with his dungas... |
Then Mini Archie decided he needed a matching one... |
Then Peter decided he needed a matching one... |
And then Alf decided that he wasn't going to be left out and that he wanted a jumper because a jacket wouldn't keep his tummy warm. |
All the jackets have been knitted using Locknits pattern for Wooliamgang mice, which can be found here on Ravelry. It's a lovely knit and easy to adapt for different sizes of tiny creatures. Alf's jumper was knitted without a pattern and I just fitted it as I went. If I knit him one again, I'll add some short rows to the back to cover his kidneys.
Linking up to the May Furtle
If you're linking up, please add a link (one per person, please) to your blog post, which could contain: a mosaic of all you've made in the month, something you've made/started/worked on, a goal which you'd like to achieve in the next month (and then in next month's post you can reflect on that goal and set yourself another one - I find this particularly handy if I'm in the midst of a big project and finding the making of hundreds of blocks to be interminable), anything crafty you'd like to share. This isn't just for sewing or quilting, but is for all crafts so if you knit, make lace, make clothes, do anything which could come under the heading of 'craft', then please link up.
Please visit the link immediately before and after you and leave an encouraging comment, and more if you can manage it - we all know that comments create joy, so let's spread some around. Also, please treat all the linked posts and their authors with respect - I want this to be an inclusive space for all crafters and crafts and all are welcome. If you're not sure if you're welcome or you belong, you do - this is by no means a closed space and if you want to join, then you are most welcome. If you need help linking up, please leave a comment and I will do my best to help.
Please add the Furtling button to your blog post, please copy the code below and paste it into your blog post - it should then magically appear when you publish your blog post (I'll do my best to help if you have any problems) and it will help people find the Furtling page with all the details of the link up.

To link up, go to the link at the bottom of this page and click on 'link up' (it's a blue button) and then add your link (website URL), a title (this could be your blog name but could also be something interesting to draw people to it (keep it clean!) if you prefer), and your email. This last one doesn't appear on the link (I will have access to it - I won't use it unless there's a problem and I need to contact you) so don't worry that you're about to share your email address with the world (or the handful of people who find this link), you're not! The link will remain open until 11pm (GMT) on 14th June; if you're seeing this post after this date, I'm afraid you can't link up to the May Furtle, but you can link next month if you like.
Those socks are so lovely! Beautiful colours. Billy and Mini Archie are looking very smart in their new jackets, of course, Peter and Alf wanted one for themselves as well. Well done!!

So, what about the Togglets, they didn't yell for jackets or jumpers?
ReplyDeleteI so love the partner look, your four boys are looking so handsome!
Stop giving them ideas!!!
DeleteOh, Helen, May has flown by!!! I'm so grateful to you and MA for keeping the Furtling pointy-stick poking going. I'll finish my post tonight, I hope. I spent some time on it last night, but realized I forgot a whole section I wanted to add. Oh how I love your socks!!! These are so fun and congrats on the great fit. That's the best! I am totally in love with the matching jackets and jumper. That is one of the most adorable things on the internet!!! How long does it take to knit MA a jacket? I'm not a knitter. I did crochet for a bit, but only enjoyed the motion and not the outcome as much. Happy end of May!!!
ReplyDeleteConsidering it's a long month, it flew by didn't it?! A jacket like this for him takes just over an hour. A jumper with sleeves and buttons at the neck takes much longer...
Deletewow, I am in awe of your dexterity! Well done.
DeleteThanks!
DeleteI like the colours of the sock yarns. they all seems to go well together. Archie and the gang look very smart in their new jackets!
ReplyDeleteArghh! I typed a long comment and Google ate it. *rolls up sleeves* Let's try that again, shall we, Google!?!
ReplyDeleteThe socks are gorgeous--very pleasing colours indeed, and the new yarns are lush. I notice lots of green--does your mam have a preference for green, then?
Your boys look so smart in their matching woollies--quite a dashing little troupe you have! xx
All your knitting makes me squeal with joy!!! Your yarns are just beautiful and all those stunning wee outfits!!! 💖💖💖💖 You've inspired me dig out the needles again so thank you so much for sharing xxx
ReplyDeleteBless you - it keeps me out of trouble! I'm thrilled you're getting your needles out again - I bet Little Firey will be thrilled to see all those sticks!
DeleteI love all the matching outfits. You must have very nimble fingers!
ReplyDeleteNow I love the aqua and green yarn but not so sure about how it knits up according to the wrap but I'm loving the way the pink and purple yarn will knit up! Decisions decisions. x
ReplyDeleteLoving the matching sweater collection, very swish!
ReplyDeleteAren't they handsome?!
