Mini Archie’s December Furtle Around The Blogosphere

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something Hello and welcome to the final furtle of the year! Just a quick one as I have my end of year fettling report to write and then my 2026 Fettling List to sort plus a post to accompany it. Fortunately (or otherwise), I’ve not managed much at all this month but I did finish the socks I started in September which is satisfying: Yarn is from Made By Penguins and was unnamed but has been named after their  newest team member, Bert.  As you can see, it’s knitted up beautifully and as it’s an extra fine merino and cashmere (plus nylon for the durability) mix, it’s even softer than their yarn usually is.  And I can confirm that the Advent trees are a lot better this year after their go in the washer and Mini Archie is much happier with them (as am I!): Look at them all standing up properly this year *beams*  Linking up to the December Furtle  If you're linking up, please add a link (one per perso...

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something Hello! Not much to report this month as I haven’t touched the socks since I took their photo for last month’s post (oops) but I have re-felted the Advent trees and put the buttons back on so I do technically have a fettled finish, hooray! (The link for end of year reports will be open at the end of December, I wonder how many points we’ll tot up between us?) I put them on a 60° wash with a few bath sheets in, very briefly put each one over a polystyrene cone to (try to) get the shape and then put them in the airing cupboard to dry.  Mini Archie is starting to feel festive as well as impatient for the blue socks to be finished: Mine star jumper is ready to be weared, I has choosed mine Advent calendar for this year’s guessing game *can’t wait face* and there’s still time for BC to finish those blue socks she started in September even if she doesn’t manage any other finishes *determined face*  Linking up to th...

Fettle Those Finishes! Progress Reports

Image
Hello, and welcome to the halfway point of this year’s Fettle Those Finishes! T his is a progress link up so you can reflect on your progress (note that that doesn’t mean just finishes, it means any and all progress on your Fettling List). As I did last year, I’ve written a new Fettling List for the second half of the year; I’m yet to find the perfect way to organise my list so I’ve added a table (of sorts) in the hope that I’ll be able to track additions to the list as well as things I’ve ticked off.  If you’re new to Fettling, you can absolutely join now, don’t let missing half the year put you off rolling up your sleeves, having a good furtle through your projects and deciding which you want to make progress on by the end of the year. Details of Fettle Those Finishes can be found here . My Progress Report I’ve sorted my sock knitting records so that every person now has their own card with the pattern details on the front and a list of socks I’ve knitted them on the back, and ...

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something Hello! Gosh, it’s been a warm month (although fortunately not as warm or as warm for as long as some parts of the country) so knitting has been somewhat limited. I’ve finished the pair of socks I started last month which used three different Made By Penguins yarns And they’re now in the sock drawer waiting for autumn.  This is the non-sparkle pink and the purple. And this is the sparkle pink and purple. I’ve started a pair of socks for a friend  Yarn is Peacock from Mothy And The Squid And the first test Luna Lapin jumper is ready for sewing up. This is going to be sent to Miss Lizzie ’s house for some of her chums to try on to check they’re happy with the fit. They’ll then send their order through, apparently. (Needless to say, this has all been arranged by Mini Archie.) And, months ahead of schedule, I’ve finished my Advent trees! I used Drops Alpaca  in Dark Green, Green Grass, and Olive and got the...

Mini Archie’s February Furtle Around The Blogosphere

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something This month has definitely been a knitting (and very little sleep) month. And a faffing-with-code-to-try-to-get-an-older-post/newer-post-link-on-each-post month. While I’ve managed it, it’s not where I wanted it to be but I think perhaps I should quit while I’m ahead and before I make an unforced irreversible error. Or give up and just not bother with it at all? Any thoughts? Hours after the January Furtle was published, the tin for my knitting record cards tin arrived and I love it! From  Whirling World Isn’t this better than a pile of tatty scraps of paper?! (And there’s room in there for a pen, too!)  I made some progress on the socks I started last month, which have experienced some pulling back at one point as I wasn’t happy with just doing straight bands of different yarns. I’m now doing some of yarn A, then a small bit of yarn B, a small bit of yarn A, a large bit of yarn B, a small bit of yarn C, a ...

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something Hello, and welcome to the final Furtle of the year! (How? How?! ) I finished the socks I started last month and they are now (although perhaps not literally) on the feet of their owner. These are they (socks not feet): There’s enough left over leftovers to  make her another pair so once I’ve finished my current pair, I’ll set to. This most recent pair takes my sock count for 2022 to sixteen. I also finished the top I’d started last month: And made another: which I temporarily turned into a Christmas top with the addition of some red seed beads: Those take my tops count for 2022 to fourteen (eleven short sleeved and three long sleeved). I did loads of quilting on my Winterkist quilt, loads more than I planned because the fleece behaved so well (about time too) that I quilted all the ditches and not just those running from one edge to the other. I’ve now got a plan for the rest of the quilting: I’m going to ...
