The List (AKA Things Which Have Been Started)

Low volume scrappy trip (2017) Status on 1/1/24: dormant
I’m rethinking this quilt: I’m going to get it out at some point, make it smaller and then send it out for quilting. In addition to removing some blocks, I want to either replace some of the fabrics (as I don’t like them and don’t know why I included them) in some of the blocks in the top or remove the blocks with that fabric in and swap in different blocks.

Summersville (2012) Status on 1/1/24: dormant
This will also be made smaller and then sent out for quilting. Just need to decide which blocks to remove which means this one also needs laying out and rearranging and possibly some part rows (the blocks are currently joined into strips of three) unpicking before I can even think of assembling the top and getting it ready to send to the quilter.

Winterkist (2017) Status on 1/1/24: dormant
This is now too heavy/big for me so I’m going to remove a(n outer) column and row and then send it to have the quilting finished. It’s been stitched in the ditch so just needs something in the bigger areas of fabric to stop it going baggy - the plan had been to quilt round the outside of each gnome as well as round beards and the brim of the hats but that’s not going to be possible so perhaps something wintery but not overtly Christmassy?

Socks for V (2024) Status on 1/1/25: active

Toglet theatre (2024) Status on 1/1/25: active
This is going to be a Toglet Theatre/display unit for tiny knick-knacks. I’ve started painting
it and once that is done, I need to work out how to attach a new backing board and choose the
fabric which will cover it. And work out how it will hang on the wall.
As you can see, it’s just the front (and maybe the sides) which needs extra coats.

The Waiting List (In no particular order)

Dressmaking

Long-sleeved tops

Knitting

Socks - every time I finish a pair of socks, I ask Mr Random Number Generator to choose a number for me and I identify the corresponding ball/selection of balls in the sock lucky dip album and then locate it/them in The Cupboard Of Possibilities. This all the balls/skeins of sock yarn I have and I spent a few days at the start of 2021 creating scrappy sock bags from the balls of leftovers which is (partly) why I have so many socks in waiting. (I’ve spent a while going back through them last year and making new socks in-waiting kits from the leftovers created since 2021 and…the total keeps going up *sighs*)

Shawl - I have some beautiful laceweight baby alpaca (honestly, I could sit and squish it all day long) and I think it needs to become an enormous shawl or wrap. Pattern yet to be decided.

Advent trees - many (most?) of these have revealed themselves to be insufficiently felted so I need to remove the buttons, felt, shape and dry the trees and then sew the buttons back on *sighs*
Left: three floppy trees Middle: one properly felted tree Right: the difference between a floppy
tree and a not-floppy one is marked when you lay them down

Sophie scarf/shawl - I have this gorgeous skein of singles 4ply which I’m hoping I can make into a Sophie scarf or shawl (pattern by Petite Knit)

Quilting

Pointy Points quilt
QAYG cushions from these LV scraps. I have the wadding scraps set aside so all I need is the time/energy/motivation.
Hot water bottle covers Same fabric as this one and perhaps with a penguin a piece but with different binding (as I don’t have enough of the pink gingham)

DPN cases Probably one for each size and labelled in some way so they’re obvious without opening them. Perhaps stamped numbers? Or little tags? No decision on fabric, but I think it’ll be lightly quilted and then made in the same way as the hot water bottle covers.

Door stops for the kitchen as the two I have are looking a little, um, worse for wear. I think I’ll make them with removable covers so they can be washed.

Banjo and Blue A friend in Sydney sent me the pattern for these gorgeous koalas and then sent some ear fur with a mutual friend from Canberra who was coming over. That friend also gave me some fabric and I think they’ll make perfect koalas - I even have enough fur and fabric for both Banjo and Blue!
Drunkard’s Path quilt. Again. Yes, despite finishing this quilt once (with diagonal quilting) in 2014 and then again in 2019 after quilting in all the ditches with a heavier weight thread (in the hope of stabilising it enough so that the original quilting would stop snapping), it needs quilting again. I’ve been using it quite a bit in the last few weeks and I keep hearing threads snapping if I move/pick it up ‘wrong’ so I, going to have to unpick all the diagonal quilting and re do it. Unfortunately, I’ve somehow destashed the heavier weight thread I used (I no longer buy that brand because I don’t trust it) and have found the right colours in Gütermann thread (thank goodness for a friend with a thread chart!) and once I’m well enough to sit at the machine, I shall be unpicking one line at a time and re quilting it.

Nine patch quilt - last year, Taryn @ReproQuilter, held a tiny nine patch challenge on Instagram and I bought some fabric and quilt stamps but got no further than washing the fabric. In truth, the ironing of the fabric is what stymied me and now I’m wondering whether to change the size of my blocks as I have limited fabric and perhaps don’t want to have as much fabric in the seam allowances as is visible in the blocks.

Needlework

Bargello cushions
Two or three cushions based on this bargello purse (not these colours or necessarily this pattern) using gorgeous blue velvet for the back (a gift from my friend Salley)

Christmas Carol embroidery - I want to make an embroidery inspired by Christmas Carol. I’ve chosen (and downloaded) the pattern and am hoping to have it finished for Christmas 2025. Watch this space!

Miscellaneous

Woodland felt garland kit from Pretty Fabrics And Trims which a kind friend bought me to do while recovering from covid

Tunnock’s art - I’ve been saving the wrappers from teacakes and caramel wafers and have a couple of canvasses I’d like to create some pictures on. I’m not in the least bit artistic and can’t draw a straight line with a ruler, but would like to have a go at some simple collage with fussy cut details. Need to narrow down the options and choose a theme/topic. Mini Archie would quite like it to be Sticks I Have Luffed, which at least sounds straightforward.

Tea towel something - maybe a tote bag?

Cupboard of Possibilities - I need to go through the cupboard one shelf at a time and check I still need/want to keep everything. There are six shelves plus the (inaccurately named) understorey and my aim is to have them all done by the end of the year.
It’s a bit o’er full!

Pin pennant - Mini Archie has his own pin pennant and I need my own. I’m thinking about a mini quilt or banner or hoop rather than the traditional pennant shape.

This is mine pin pennant from mine luffly chum Lock.
