Fettle Those Finishes! End Of Year Reports

It’s time to consider how Fettle Those Finishes! 2024 went and see what progress we made on our list. I’ll go first, shall I?

This year was the first year I had a table at the top of my list right from the start and I’m definitely continuing with that (while also wishing I knew more (anything!) about writing code). I have made progress compared with the progress report from July, which is always satisfying, so let’s get down to the nitty gritty, shall we?

I’ve knitted nine pairs of socks:

I say this every year but next year I really need to remember to take all the finished sock photos
in the same format, not a mix of square and rectangle!
Fettling Score = 9

I’ve also knitted a hat:

Read about it here

Fettling Score = 10

Revived a clock:

Read about it here
Fettling Score = 11

And replaced the labels on my scrap and FQ boxes:

Read about them here

Fettling Score = 12

This means I’ve scored (just) less than a third of last year’s total but twelve Fettling Points is still twelve Fettling Points and I’m very glad to have them. It also means I’ve averaged a finish a month, which I think is good going - I have the clock and labels to thank for that as they were very quick finishes!

I’m looking forward to reading your reports; the link will remain open until 11pm on 31st January so there’s plenty of time for you to assemble your evidence and write your report. You don’t have to award yourself Fettling Points if you don’t want to but, if you do, it’s up to you how you award them. I award myself one point for each finish: if several things were on my list as just one item (as “labels for fabric boxes” was), I get one point in total; if they were listed as separate things (as “socks for friends x10” were), I get one point for each finish. That’s just a me rule, though, as it helps me think about what I’m adding to the list and be more specific. Again, you can work your points (and your list) however you want.

The post for Fettle Those Finishes! 2025 will be up tomorrow but the link won’t open until 11pm (GMT) on 10th January. It will remain open until 28th February so there’s plenty of time for you to assemble your list/copy and paste last year’s list!

Thank you very much for joining in this year, it’s been fun to have some company!

If you haved just worked a bit harderer this year, this sock could have been two socks and
not just a cuff, a bit of a leg and a few mini skeins *disappointed face*

  3. I think you've done a terrific job in 2024! Lots of socks is very good for the soul. And the clock makes me smile every time I get to see the picture of it. Well done!!! *waves pompoms* Maybe MA can learn to use both a carrot (chocolate dipped) as well as a stick in 2025 to help? I love your pink socks (lower left-hand corner) are my favorite! Yippee for a new year and starting to Furtle all over again. Clean Slate. *beams*
