Finish-Along Q3 2015

2015 FAL at On the Windy Side

This is list is ridiculously long but I thought that I'd add everything I fancy finishing/working on and see how I get on!  They're in order of most likely/most important to finish to least likely/important but that doesn't necessarily mean I'll work my way down it!

1. My main (machine sewing) focus for this quarter is the blue and white nine patch/snowball quilt I'm making (and have been for three and a quarter years, oh the shame!) for my mam's spare bed.  I have three sections (25 blocks in each) left to piece and then I can join them together.  I'd really like to have the top finished by the end of this quarter, at the very least.

2.  My main hand sewing focus for this quarter is a secret project* and I'm afraid I can't say anything about it.  There is a pattern to go with this photo but I can't show it.  All will be revealed when it's finished.

*Adrianne, I hope this is okay.  If necessary I can email you my plans and a photo of the pattern but I really can't share more on here...

3.  In between all the machine piecing (and the mind-numbing pinning), I'd like to make a start on two matching 'bolster' cushions and intend to use the 508 'bonus' HSTs which resulted from making the snowball blocks.

4.  I need to finish this shawl (Sakura by Leila Raabe) by the end of the year.  Lynz and I are taking it slow and steady but, if the last couple of weeks are anything to go by, I think we might make quite a lot of progress this quarter!

5.  I've just started this pulled thread work (it will become a pin cushion at some point!) and would like to at least keep it ticking over so I don't forget what I'm doing!

6.  There isn't much left to do on this trug: close the turning gap, give it a good press, top stitch, and attach the handle, so I could squeeze this in between blue and white blocks if I fancied a quick finish!

7.  I have made slow (and quiet, i.e. unblogged!) and steady progress on my hexy quilt and I've now finished the hand quilting!  I now need to trim it and choose/attach the binding.  The current favourite is the pale grey on white dot which is used in the inner border but if you have another idea, please shout!

8.  I have plans for this tape measure and this would be a nice easy bit of hand stitching if I need a break from the secret project.

I have plans for this tape measure!

9.  This is another (hand pieced) test block of a pattern by Lynne and I'm going to turn it into another mini quilt for my sewing room wall.  There will be a quilt of these blocks at some point - I have the fabric but want to finish some projects first before I start!

10.  This quilt still needs re-quilting.  Another bobbin thread snapped the other day and reminded me that I've only replaced one line.  I probably won't get to this any time soon but I'm keeping it on my list to remind me about it!

11.  This is a cushion kit which I won from Kerry/Seamstar.  It's been on my list for a while now and I have made some progress since this photo was taken: I've ironed all the fabric!

12.  A friend bought me this lovely embroidery outline (is that the right term?) a while ago and I'd love to make it into something.  No idea what that something will be yet (or rather, I can't decide between options!) but I can think about that while I stitch!

13.  This project has been long in the planning (well, more long in the fabric collecting and thinking!) and was going to be simple squares with lots of hand quilting.  I've slightly changed my plan and it will now be a scrappy trip quilt, inspired by Lynz' version.  I won't be starting this until the blue and white quilt top is finished but this is my carrot!

Hmmm, not sure I'm at all keen on the new look embedded Flickr photos (i.e. with the frame)...just when I thought Flickr had finished faffing with things!  13/7/15 - No, I hate it!  I gave it a chance but it just looks dreadful so I've deleted the relevant bits of code (at least I think I have, I have no real idea what I'm doing!) and it seems to still work...

  1. I haven't had that problem with flickr, but is it the "script" code at the end of the html? Because I think for my blog wordpress.com scrubs off the script (they don't want anyone else advertising on their platform :) ) So can you edit the html to delete the script?
