Finish-Along Q1 2019
1. (Q3 2015) I'm making a low-volume and turquoise version of a scrappy trip around the world quilt. Although I won't finish this quilt this quarter, I'd like to start the piecing! I know, I said that last quarter. And the one before. I haven't started the piecing... But, as of Boxing Day 2018, I have actually made a (sort of) start - I received some quilt stamps for Christmas and one of them is a 2" square so I'm stamping all the squares and am going to hand piece the blocks because I think I stand more of a chance of actually getting a quilt top than waiting until I'm able to sit at the sewing machine for more than a few minutes at a time.
2. (Q4 2015) This table runner (block pattern by Reene Witchard - find it here) is now ready for quilting (and has been for quite some time). At this moment, I'm unsure whether it'll be a table runner or cushion once it's finished...
3. (Q4 2015) This was going to become a table runner, but I've changed my mind and it's now going to become a Bloem Basket (pattern by Johanna Weidner, find it on Craftsy Bloem Basket Pattern) - there's a sewalong in March so I'm hoping that this will mean I actually make this (relatively) soon!
4. (Q1 2015) Oh, this poor quilt! It's been on several of my FAL lists and was, briefly, a finish. Then I realised that there was a problem with the quilting (the bobbin thread keeps snapping) and I've been meaning to replace the quilting. I've done one line (with different stitch length and tension from the first time) but, I'll be honest, it's mind-numbing work. I'm going to change my plan slightly and replace the lines where threads have snapped and then leave the rest but quilt in the ditch of all the sashing strips. That should be enough to stop the bias stretch on the quilt, which, I think, is exacerbating the problem with the quilting. If it doesn't, I might quilt in the ditch round the grey block borders. I have to be careful not to add too much quilting as it's already bound but I'm hoping I'll get away with it...
5. (Q1 2016) At the end of last year, Hadley had a 'win my WIP' giveaway in order to foist her hexies onto someone else pass on a lovely project and I was the lucky winner. I'm going to turn these into (yet another) cushion, once I've quilted it. I've layered it and marked the first set of quilting lines. I'm now considering undoing most of my work and unpicking back to the hexy flowers to make pouches with them...
6. (Q2 2016) I have been planning this quilt since at least 2013 and would like to at least make a start on prepping blocks. (I've been saying that for a while...) I have a range of backgrounds and some gorgeous Oakshott (Scandinavian, I think). The block pattern is in the photo and I've already completed a test block.
7. (Q2 2016) This needs layering and pinning ready for quilting, once I've bought the wadding and decided on how I'm going to quilt it. I doubt I'll make progress on this for quite a while, but once a project is on my FAL list, it stays on until it's either finished or officially abandoned! (No, they're not two different colours of background, it's just the difference between pieced/unpieced and straight/bias - you don't see it in real life.)
8. (Q3 2016) I need to turn this piece of embroidered ticking into a pouch (with detachable strap) for my ipod.
9: (Q4 2016) I'm going to turn this pink pin cord into a round neck pinafore version of the Kate dress:
10. (Q4 2016) This black and white lawn is going to be a Kate dress
11. (Q4 2016) This rather 80s winter sports print (it really could be from then as it came out of someone's loft!) is going to become a version of the Kate dress, possibly with a v neck and long/elbow length sleeves.
12. (Q4 2016) I started these jama bottoms in 2013 - they're made from an old quilt cover.
13. (Q4 2016) I'm going to make another pair of jama bottoms from this rather snazzy fabric, which I think my mam bought my brother in the early 90s when he made himself a few cushions for his room.
14 and 15. (Q2 2017) The middle fabric in this pile is going to become my second Everyday Blouse, and the top fabric is going to become a Kate dress:
16. (Started around October 2012) This is another project that I won't get finished this quarter (or next!), but I want it back on my list. Next step is to cut the pieces for the nine patches which will alternate with the embroidered blocks. (I may even finish writing the stories behind the blocks, you never know!)
17. (Q2 2017) I want to make a Christmas quilt (yes, another one!) from these pieces of Winterkist. I'm going to make a version of Sarah's Stained quilt, with navy sashing (thanks, Salley!):
18. (Q2 2017) This Italian lawn is going to become a top version of the Kate dress:
19. (Q4 2017) The pinafore I made last year needs a lining (it needs a slip under it, but the armholes are too low for the slips I have, so a lining it is):
20. (Q2 2018) I've cut out the pieces to make a short-sleeved Lark tee:
21 - 22. (Q4 2018) Socks!
23. (Q4 2018) And my 2018 Christmas project for the Christmas-Cushion-Or-Whatever-You-Fancy-Along 2018, which will be a hot water bottle cover
24. (Q4 2018) Jen (Mum In The Mad House) and I are making jeans together and we are having our hands held by a very talented friend of ours, without who we wouldn't be doing this! I've traced and altered the pattern as far as I'm able without a first fit and have washed my denim.
25. (Q1 2019) A daughter's friend is expecting a baby any week now and a (different) friend gave me this pack of 5" Cloud 9 organic jersey. There are twenty squares so I thought I'd join them into fours and back with towelling and they'd make good sicky cloths for the wee baby.
What a mighty list! Looking forward to seeing your progress and finishes.
ReplyDeleteIt is rather, isn't it?! Although nowhere near as mighty as it has been... And thank you!
Deleteooohhh what an exciting list. I'm looking forward to doing the happy dance with you when you finish some of them :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
DeleteYou have some amazing starts here! And some soooo close to a finish. Can't wait to see what you do first!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOooo I sent you some blue fabric did I? My brain must be mush. Apart from the blue velvet I can’t remember! Your list is still robust I see! Not as extreme as mine, however!! Best of luck Archie!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely list. Unfortunately, some of the pictures aren't displaying for me. Even the one at the end with MA :-( Looking forward to watching your progress.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for letting me know about the pictures - they were fine when I published the post so I need to investigate what I've done wrong. And it's definitely me because all the ones which aren't showing are the ones I've uploaded in a different way (i.e. not using Flickr) *sighs*
DeleteI think I've fixed it... Thanks again for letting me know!
DeleteI love the list! (you're making me feel better about having some really old ones on my list). Good luck! I can't wait to see what you get done and dusted! On behalf of the FAL crew, thanks for joining in!
