Mini Archie’s February Furtle Around The Blogosphere

Archie The Wonder Dog

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something

This month has definitely been a knitting (and very little sleep) month. And a faffing-with-code-to-try-to-get-an-older-post/newer-post-link-on-each-post month. While I’ve managed it, it’s not where I wanted it to be but I think perhaps I should quit while I’m ahead and before I make an unforced irreversible error. Or give up and just not bother with it at all? Any thoughts?

Hours after the January Furtle was published, the tin for my knitting record cards tin arrived and I love it!

From Whirling World

Isn’t this better than a pile of tatty scraps of paper?! (And there’s room in there for a pen, too!)

I made some progress on the socks I started last month, which have experienced some pulling back at one point as I wasn’t happy with just doing straight bands of different yarns. I’m now doing some of yarn A, then a small bit of yarn B, a small bit of yarn A, a large bit of yarn B, a small bit of yarn C, a small bit of yarn B, a large bit of yarn C, etc. etc. in an attempt to weave them together and I think it’s working:
I’m definitely happier than the last time I was at this point with them, which is reassuring.

Then, just as I was happy with how the scrappy socks were working, some yarn arrived to knit into socks for a friend and I did something I never do: I abandoned the scrappy socks and set to work as I felt she needed some woolly comfort:

Yarn is Pina Colada from Made By Penguins’ mystery skein sale

Yarn is Fruity Tella from Made By Penguins’ mystery skein sale

I then knitted four Advent trees (I’m knitting two trees for every pair of socks I finish to keep me on track for finishing them in time for Advent); this photo includes two from January which didn’t have their photo taken for the previous Furtle for some reason and then the trees I knitted after the socks I’ll show you in a moment. They all need felting at some point when I’m up to it:

Then more yarn for other friends arrived so I knitted two pairs of socks for a different friend:
Yarn is Opal 5194

Yarn is King Cole Zig Zag 4811 (awful, awful yarn which knocked hell out of my hands. Never again.)

And, finally, a pair of socks for a different different friend:
Yarn is from Made By Penguin’s mystery skein sale

And then I circled back to knit the six trees owed after these three pairs. I’ve now knitted twenty trees but only felted eight so I’m suspending tree knitting until I’ve caught up with the felting in order to see them as a group and judge which sizes/shades are needed for the final (eek!) four trees.

Mini Archie is making sure I keep to task and don’t deviate from my Fettling List, although I think he’s hoping I do more than knit socks and trees at some point this year.

I is allowed outside to enjoy the winter sunshine and go on A Moss Hunt, you isn’t.
Back inside wif you to crack on wif Fettling *firm face*

Just in case you haven’t joined and want to, today (28th February) is your last chance to join us in fettling some finishes, follow this link to the blog post to link up your list.

Linking up to the February Furtle

If you're linking up, please add a link (one per person, please) to your blog post, which could contain: a mosaic of all you've made in the month, something you've made/started/worked on, a goal which you'd like to achieve in the next month (and then in next month's post you can reflect on that goal and set yourself another one - I find this particularly handy if I'm in the midst of a big project and finding the making of hundreds of blocks to be interminable), anything crafty you'd like to share. This isn't just for sewing or quilting, but is for all crafts so if you knit, make lace, make clothes, do anything which could come under the heading of 'craft', then please link up. Please visit the link immediately before and after you and leave an encouraging comment, and more if you can manage it - we all know that comments create joy, so let's spread some around. Also, please treat all the linked posts and their authors with respect - I want this to be an inclusive space for all crafters and crafts and all are welcome. If you're not sure if you're welcome or you belong, you do - this is by no means a closed space and if you want to join, then you are most welcome. If you need help linking up, please leave a comment and I will do my best to help. Please add the Furtling button to your blog post: copy the code below and paste it into your blog post - it should then magically appear when you publish your blog post (I'll do my best to help if you have any problems) and it will help people find the Furtling page with all the details of the link up.

<p style="text-align:center"><a href="https://archiethewonderdog.blogspot.com/p/furtling.html"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTXDD7-BYr5nXJtGn7HIFUcDUZfLGBTpazWKP8TCUWdkA6zd2285lbJX4aoMug6QyKDdxtxA-njWnhvf0GugU-An4z5lTFcqmYnae0Gb68FR0ZmydWYETGSa2oF1NeQDMVNwZBnUHTpsD7/s200/textgram_1548790799.png" alt="Archie The Wonder Dog" /></a></p>

To link up, go to the link at the bottom of this page and click on 'link up' (it's a blue button) and then add your link (website URL), a title (this could be your blog name but could also be something interesting to draw people to it (keep it clean!) if you prefer), and your email. This last one doesn't appear on the link (I will have access to it - I won't use it unless there's a problem and I need to contact you) so don't worry that you're about to share your email address with the world (or the handful of people who find this link), you're not! The link will remain open until 10th March; if you're seeing this post after this date, I'm afraid you can't link up to the February Furtle, but you can link next month if you like.

Dawny missed the link up, please visit her Furtle post and leave a comment. Thank you.
