Mini Archie's March Furtle Around The Blogosphere
Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something
I finished the pair of socks I was knitting last time:
You may notice that neither sock looks exactly like the finished one I showed last month, and that's because I got halfway down the foot of the second sock and ran out of yarn! So I unpicked the toe of the first one and pulled it back to give me enough yarn to get to the same point on the second sock and then added contrast toes to both. As I couldn't decide which colour to pick, I chose both, one on each sock. After wearing them, I realised they were too long in the foot (this yarn has knitted up a little larger than the sock wool I've used in the past) so unpicked the toes, ripped them and some of the foot back and then re-knitted them. It's a good job the main yarn is lovely to knit, I think I've knitted at least four socks to get to two finished ones which fit! Fortunately, they now fit beautifully so I'm not expecting to be doing any pulling out in the near future. Phew!
I laid out the blocks for my Summersville quilt, months after finishing the final one, and found an arrangement I'm happy with:
I also layered and pinned ET:
And found a space for it in the Cupboard Of Possibilities, where it will live until I deign to quilt it. The thread is on its way, so that might be sooner than I expect. I doubt it, but it might be!
I finished another pair of socks:
And joined (a measly) four scrappy trip blocks together. Must do better:
As ever, I have my own personal overseer:
I finked you sayed you might get the lower half of Scrappy Trip joined together by Easter? Best stop loitering out here *points inside* and get cracking *stern face* |
Linking up to the March Furtle
If you're linking up, please add a link (one per person, please) to your blog post, which could contain: a mosaic of all you've made in the month, something you've made/started/worked on, a goal which you'd like to achieve in the next month (and then in next month's post you can reflect on that goal and set yourself another one - I find this particularly handy if I'm in the midst of a big project and finding the making of hundreds of blocks to be interminable), anything crafty you'd like to share. This isn't just for sewing or quilting, but is for all crafts so if you knit, make lace, make clothes, do anything which could come under the heading of 'craft', then please link up. Please visit the link immediately before and after you and leave an encouraging comment, and more if you can manage it - we all know that comments create joy, so let's spread some around. Also, please treat all the linked posts and their authors with respect - I want this to be an inclusive space for all crafters and crafts and all are welcome. If you're not sure if you're welcome or you belong, you do - this is by no means a closed space and if you want to join, then you are most welcome. If you need help linking up, please leave a comment and I will do my best to help. Please add the Furtling button to your blog post: copy the code below and paste it into your blog post - it should then magically appear when you publish your blog post (I'll do my best to help if you have any problems) and it will help people find the Furtling page with all the details of the link up.

Wow, you've done great. Your 2 quilts are going to be amazing. Cute socks too!
ReplyDeleteReally like your Summersville and ET quilts. Its lovely to see quilts come together as tops and being layered up. Yours socks are brilliant too. I hope Mini Archie is enjoying the Spring sunshine.
ReplyDeleteThe socks are super!!! They look so cozy and are wonderful colors. Glad you get to make socks for yourself now. Loving seeing these quilts moving forward. Good job!!! Good thing MA doesn't have a pointy stick with him in the garden!
ReplyDeleteThank you - my feet are very glad to have woolly socks on them, I must say! And what makes you think he doesn’t take a pointy stick out with him?!
DeleteYeah for warm feet! Hmmmm, no stick in the picture, but I can hear MA humming the stick song and attracting a renegade stick.
DeleteThat’s exactly what happens!
DeleteSummersville is just awesome and definitely a masterpiece !! So happy you have an ET flimsy - its fabulous especially with that dotty background :) the cupboard of possibilities is looking very neat - maybe I need some lessons ! Now that you have two almost quilts I'm sure you'll be sewing the rest of those scrappy trip blocks together in no time. Big hugs and kisses to your personal overseer and enjoy spring xoxo :)
