Gosh, it’s been a warm month (although fortunately not as warm or as warm for as long as some parts of the country) so knitting has been somewhat limited. I’ve finished the pair of socks I started last month which used three different Made By Penguins yarns And they’re now in the sock drawer waiting for autumn.  This is the non-sparkle pink and the purple. And this is the sparkle pink and purple. I’ve started a pair of socks for a friend  Yarn is Peacock from Mothy And The Squid And the first test Luna Lapin jumper is ready for sewing up. This is going to be sent to Miss Lizzie ’s house for some of her chums to try on to check they’re happy with the fit. They’ll then send their order through, apparently. Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something This month, I’ve done a bit of different knitting: dishcloths and tiny faffy things! A friend sent me these balls of cotton yarn as she didn’t need them: And I turned them into dishcloths:  She also sent me this little knitting kit which I thought I’d knit in the round rather than flat: Yarn is Scheepjies Catona For some reason, when I came to start, I followed the instructions and knitted it flat and then had the detested task of sewing it up. This is him with a head, legs and arms and as I said to a (different) friend, unless he’s very very cute, I will not be using the spare yarn to make him a chum. I was even more determined once I’d spent what felt like hours faffing with his ears to get them where they looked nice (and re knitted one of them as the pattern has them made identically but I felt that looked wrong so I pulled one out and knit it in the mirror image of the other one): And then he got his face an...

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something Hello! Just a quick post from me today and mainly photos (or that’s the plan as I type). I finished the socks I started last month using the helical knitting technique , which I definitely love and is really easy, a rainbow ombré yarn and a solid navy (Opal Navy 9930): I had enough of the rainbow yarn left to make a second pair. Not enough for fully-striped socks so I went for striped feet: (The second foot did have to be pulled out when I got about two-thirds along as the purple just wasn’t changing shade. I took about 4g out of the ball and started again and I’m very glad I did.) Here’s their family photo: So that’s something else ticked off my Fettling List ! Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something Hello! This month has been a month of a bit more sleeping (hooray!) but still lots of sock knitting. The socks I started in January have been finished: Here’s what I started with (plus Opal Navy Blue): Yarn is three different Regia leftovers plus a mini skein (top right) by Vicki Brown Designs   which was a present from a friend  And here’s how much was left: I’m quite happy with how much I managed to use in the making of the socks. Not as satisfied as if I’d used every last metre, but almost. I started another pair of scrappy socks using these leftovers, two of which are from a friend’s leftovers box: The orange yarn is ‘Rusting’ and the dark green is ‘Into The Forest’ and are both by  Mothy And The Squid As the green doesn’t have any nylon content, I just used it in the legs: it wouldn't wear very well on the heels or feet and I’m not spending all that time knitting socks only to be darning them a f...

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something This month has definitely been a knitting (and very little sleep) month. And a faffing-with-code-to-try-to-get-an-older-post/newer-post-link-on-each-post month. While I’ve managed it, it’s not where I wanted it to be but I think perhaps I should quit while I’m ahead and before I make an unforced irreversible error. Or give up and just not bother with it at all? Any thoughts? Hours after the January Furtle was published, the tin for my knitting record cards tin arrived and I love it! From  Whirling World Isn’t this better than a pile of tatty scraps of paper?! (And there’s room in there for a pen, too!)  I made some progress on the socks I started last month, which have experienced some pulling back at one point as I wasn’t happy with just doing straight bands of different yarns. I’m now doing some of yarn A, then a small bit of yarn B, a small bit of yarn A, a large bit of yarn B, a small bit of yarn C, a ...
