A Hexy Interlude (Alternative title: Hexy Overload!)

I've spent this afternoon faffing about with my hexies and thought that while I faff some more lay them all out and try to sort out the arrangement I'd bore you with share some yet more photos of the hexies.  This time I've photographed them in design groups so you can see all the similar hexies together.  There are a fair few photos so I'd make yourself a (large!) cup of tea before you get going...

Oh, and if you click on them you can see them in Flickr - there are some other photos in my Hexies set, just in case you haven't had enough by the time you get to the bottom, including four hexies that have already been culled...

Two of the hexies you've seen are under threat of hexicide...these two!

Under threat of hexicide...
The hexy on the left is almost definitely going to be culled...the fate of the one on the right is in the balance!

That's it for hexies - if you want to see more photos (I can't imagine you would but there are photos the edging pieces, whole hexies, etc. if you're interested) then head over to Flickr!

And just to completely finish you off...

A few people have asked if I wrap Archie in his bed or if he does it himself.  Well, it's not the best example (he can go on for up to four minutes and travel across the room before he's happy) but here's proof that I have nothing to do with it!  (Sorry about the sound in the background, I was watching 'The Big Bang Theory'!)

Yes, I wrapped myself up...it's the only way to get it right!

I'll be back when I've sorted the hexy arrangement and made a map...I could be some time!!!  Actually, I may be back before then as it might take weeks to get that sorted!

  1. I knew you'd been making masses of hexies but I didn't realise you'd made THAT many! All of them are amazing. This is going to be an iconic quilt :) And Archie is such a sweet clever dog :)

  2. WOW!! Thats a lot of hexies... your quilt is going to look stunning. I am even more convinced Archie and Sam are related, Sam does the same, never taught him he just does it... same as Archie. Sam also spends ages getting it just right.... then gets out and sleeps on the top!! Hugs x

  11. Just in case you wanted a poll of favourites, its "S" for me. Those arrowy shapes intrigued me when you blogged your pin cushion. Just amazingly beautiful maestro piecing, Helen.

I love all your hexies, but hope thse last two are saved from hexicide! Maybe you could incorporate them into the label for your hexies quilt?

  13. Your hexies are beyond amazing!! What a masterpiece this will be! Archie should win the Oscar for best performance for.......well...they'll need to come up with a new category! The Big Bang Theory is one of my favorite shows and since there are endless re-runs I watch at least one every night!

  19. Well I have lots of favs and it is sometimes one particular one in a set. I do shed a little tear for those that are not going to make it onto the quilt - could they sneak onto the back?

What a lot of work you have done in making these and how glorious this quilt will be - once you stop faffing with the layout and stitch it up! Love the thought of a map! Perhaps we could see a photo of that as I have lain out quilt blocks before and fouled up somewhere along the line and ended up with a different layout!

And Archie - well he is such a performer!

  23. Woah!! That's a LOT of beautiful hexies!!!! Nice job! And, honestly, do you have the bestest dug in the world or what? What a guy.

P.S. My work colleague gave us the first 4 seasons of the Big Bang Theory on DVD to watch - totally addicted!!

  26. Amazing work!! You are so very precise with your stitching!! Beautiful hexies, congratulations on getting them all finished. Can't wait to see how you arrange them and get them stitched together. I wanted to reach in and twiddle with the baby blocks arrangement in design H picture. lol..
Oh Archie is so funny!! I don't blame him for wanting to get all snuggled in his quilt, it's freezing weather.

  27. I wanted to pick a favourite hexie group but too many beautiful ones, you make me want to start all over again with a new batch.
The hexie parade was nearly in danger of being eclipsed by the video clip....

Please please please can you share your genius - I desprately want to make some of these too!

  34. I've just come across your hexies via Lynne, via flickr. They are amazing. Who knew you could make so many variations. I have just joined in a hand sewn mini swap, and decided to do a similar thing. Do you mind if I use a few of your designs?
