Finish-Along Q3 2018

1.  (Q3 2015)  I'm making a low-volume and turquoise version of a scrappy trip around the world quilt.  Although I won't finish this quilt this quarter, I'd like to start the piecing!  (I said that last quarter. And the one before.  I haven't started the piecing...)

2. (Q4 2015)  This table runner (block pattern by Reene Witchard - find it here) is now ready for quilting (and has been for quite some time).  At this moment, I'm unsure whether it'll be a table runner or cushion once it's finished...

3. (Q4 2015)  This was going to become a table runner, but I've changed my mind and it's now going to become...wait for it...a pouch!

4. (Q1 2015)  Oh, this poor quilt!  It's been on several of my FAL lists and was, briefly, a finish.  Then I realised that there was a problem with the quilting (the bobbin thread keeps snapping) and I've been meaning to replace the quilting.  I've done one line (with different stitch length and tension from the first time) but, I'll be honest, it's mind-numbing work.  I'm going to change my plan slightly and replace the lines where threads have snapped and then leave the rest but quilt in the ditch of all the sashing strips.  That should be enough to stop the bias stretch on the quilt, which, I think, is exacerbating the problem with the quilting.  If it doesn't, I might quilt in the ditch round the grey block borders.  I have to be careful not to add too much quilting as it's already bound but I'm hoping I'll get away with it...

5. (Q1 2016)  These are the last remnants of the grey and yellow fabric that Mam bought to make her sewing machine cover and I'm hoping to cobble something together to use them all up.  Two pieces have wadding fused to the back (the result of a miscalculation) and I'm planning to make a storage basket/pouch with these last oddly-sized bits.

6. (Q1 2016)  At the end of last year, Hadley had a 'win my WIP' giveaway in order to foist her hexies onto someone else pass on a lovely project and I was the lucky winner.  I'm going to turn these into (yet another) cushion, once I've quilted it.  I've layered it and marked the first set of quilting lines.

7. (Q2 2016)  I have been planning this quilt since at least 2013 and would like to at least make a start on prepping blocks.  (I've been saying that for a while...)  I have a range of backgrounds and can't decide whether to go scrappy or not (which is why I have quite a lot of some of them) and some gorgeous Oakshott (Scandinavian, I think).  The block pattern is in the photo and I've already completed a test block.  I'm going to make a Kaleidscope quilt, inspired by Poppy - you can see her Kaleidoscope cushion on her Instagram page here.  (See the fabrics third and fourth down from the stack of grey/white background fabrics?  They're supposed to be the same colour...)
Pointy points

8. (Q2 2016)  I've made progress on my ET quilt in the past few weeks and now have the top pieced!  I've even bought the backing!  I doubt I'll make progress on this for quite a while, but once a project is on my FAL list, it stays on until it's either finished or officially abandoned!   Here it is before it was set on point:

All the blocks are together!
9. (Q3 2016) I need to turn this piece of embroidered ticking into a pouch (with detachable strap) for my ipod.

This bit of embroidery will, at some point, become a small bag so I have somewhere to put my ipod when I'm having a wander with Eddie or stitching in the garden.

10: (Q4 2016) I'm going to turn this pink pin cord into a round neck pinafore version of the Kate dress:

11. (Q4 2016) This black and white lawn is going to be a Kate dress

12. (Q4 2016) This rather 80s winter sports print (it really could be from then as it came out of someone's loft!) is going to become a version of the Kate dress, possibly with a v neck and long/elbow length sleeves.

13. (Q4 2016) I started these jama bottoms in 2013 - they're made from an old quilt cover.
#sewphotohop Bonus Day: PJ party I don't yet have a pair of handmade jama bottoms because I still haven't finished them, despite starting them in 2013! They're made from an old quilt cover and I'm using the embroidered section from across the bottom to ad

14. (Q4 2016) I'm going to make another pair of jama bottoms from this rather snazzy fabric, which I think my mam bought my brother in the early 90s when he made himself a few cushions for his room.

15 and 16. (Q2 2017) The middle fabric in this pile is going to become my second Everyday Blouse, and the top fabric is going to become a Kate dress:
Boyes strikes again! The fabric at the bottom (a chambray-coloured poplin at £2.45/m) is going to become a toile of the Fancy Tiger sailor top pattern I bought from @charlottesews_destash (possibly with the addition of some pink gingham bias binding as an

17. (Started around October 2012) This is another project that I won't get finished this quarter (or next!), but I want it back on my list.  Next step is to cut the pieces for the nine patches which will alternate with the embroidered blocks.  (I may even finish writing the stories behind the blocks, you never know!)

18.  (Q2 2017) I want to make a Christmas quilt (yes, another one!) from these pieces of Winterkist.  I'm going to make a version of Sarah's Stained quilt, with navy sashing (thanks, Salley!):
The other project I need background for is this lovely collection of Winterkist. I'm going to make a version of @sleepinsarah's Stained quilt (swipe to see the two I've already made) and am trying to decide on a colour for the sashing - any suggestions?

19. (Q2 2017) This Italian lawn is going to become a top version of the Kate dress:

20.  (Q4 2017) The pinafore I made last year needs a lining (it needs a slip under it, but the armholes are too low for the slips I have, so a lining it is):

21. (Q4 2017) I want to make a (giant) cushion using this lovely snowman fabric which was given to me by Jennie, and I'm going to use the same technique as I did for the penguin cushion I made last year.

23. (Q2 2018) I've cut out the pieces to make a short-sleeved Lark tee:

24 - 31. (Q2 2018) These need to be turned into socks for next winter:

32 and 33. (Q2 2018) I need two small drawstring bags to keep socks in progress in:

34. (Q2 2018) Mam has asked me to make her a bag like the one I finished for me last quarter.  She went to the same workshop and got even less done than me!

35. (Q3 2018) I have a unicorn cushion to finish for my niece's seventh birthday - I don't have long, so this will definitely be finished this quarter!

The quilt inspector (aka 'snoopervising'). The unicorn is half quilted and I'm off for some dinner and a lie down while Mini Archie carries out his inspection and makes a list of faults and queries. #Lisatheunicorn #MiniArchieTheWonderDog #theadventuresof

Look!  My list is shorter than it was last quarter!  Hooray!!!  (Only by one, but it's still shorter!) Although I have retained my membership of the #ridiculouslylongFALlist gang, which is nice...

I wonder whether I've once again got a longer FAL list than Jennie's Threads?  (She has me comprehensively beaten with her wip list to end all wip lists!)

Mini Archie is on hand with snacks (and a pointy fork, just in case I get distracted):

Look what Aunty Jude @justjudebelfast sended I! Mint Aero Buns! Not to be confused with Tuna Buns, these is eated after those and can happily share a plate with Fairy Buns *does a jig* And Aunty Jude sayed I didn't have to share if I doesn't want to, but

    1. Thank you! (Sorry I'm not replying via email, there's a problem with Blogger at the moment and comments aren't coming through to my email address.) I have hopes that I might at least start the Liberty and linen pouch this quarter, if I can bring myself to cut into the linen!

    1. Thank you! (Sorry I'm not replying via email, there's a problem with Blogger at the moment and comments aren't coming through to my email address.) The ET quilt block is by Lynne Goldsworthy, you can find the FPP templates on her blog, just enter ET in the search box. Mini Archie is serving mint aero buns - a sort of mint aero tiffin which a friend sent through the post from Belfast - they were delicious!
