Another Finish (And It’s Still Not A Sock)!

Image
Back in 2011 when I changed my scrap storage from the ‘stuffed in freezer bags according to colour’ method to something a little better , I used sections from Dulux colour cards as the labels. Then, as the fabric collection expanded and I needed a second box for many colours, I went back but the cards had changed and the shades weren’t available so I ended up with Valspar cards instead which weren’t as good (thinner and smaller). This is what they looked like, you can see how poor the fit is of the newer cards: Where there are two boxes of each colour, the black boxes  contain FQs and the white boxes scraps Over the years, I’ve vowed to change them as the smaller cards kept falling out and being wonky, etc. but it never rose to the top of the list: I think you can see why I found them annoying! The plan had been to sew tiny scraps on the labels which came with the boxes (and which have been kept safe all these years) but that’s had to be adapted for something I can do mainly while ...

Mini Archie's January Furtle Around The Blogosphere

Image
Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something Hello! I think January 2021 has surely been the longest January since records began! However, it's meant I've got a surprising amount of stuff done since the December Furtle - I hadn't realised how much until I came to sort photos for this post because the beginning of January feels so long ago that I thought they'd been done last year. I finished the socks for Mam: Pink yarn is WYS Sarsaparilla, patterned is from  Made By Penguins And knitted a pair for me, although I've technically finished these twice as the first time round I'd somehow made the feet a tad short so had to pull back the toes and add a few rounds before redoing the toe. They fit perfectly now, thank goodness. Yarn is Aqua by  Made By Penguins And I cast on another two socks for me: I also cast on another sock last night but as they're for a friend and she wants a surprise (she saw the yarn when she bought it, obviously, b...

An Archie update and a peek into my sewing room

Image
Thank you so much for all your well wishes and concern about Archie,  I passed them on and Archie waggled his ears in thanks!  He is definitely more interested in life since my last post and has renewed his interest in people walking on 'his' pavement, etc.  He's still restricted to very short walks, no stairs, etc. although he did sneak upstairs without me noticing at the weekend - he's very quiet and would make a great burglar!  I'm not sure if he's walking slightly oddly on one of his hind legs or whether I'm imagining it but I'll be sure to mention my concerns to the vet next week. I was going to share my newly stitched hexies but then I decided to copy Nicky and show you my sewing room - it's not very big but I think I've used every nook and cranny!  I've put numbers on some of the things and labels below as I love to know what other people keep in all their boxes and drawers... 1 = my scrap boxes (or most of them, some are sti...
