Luna Lapin Jumpers, Fettled!

Image
Earlier this year, several felty chums of Mini Archie were worried about how they would keep warm this winter and I was tasked with providing jumpers to keep them toasty. Firstly, to check the fit,  I made a test jumper which fitted all of them well , they placed their order, it was added to the Fettling List  and Mini Archie put it to the top of my order of works list.  I started them last month and by the time it came to furtle for September’s progress , I had three jumpers in pieces which had been soaked and blocked, ready for sewing up.  Penny had already bought some gorgeous metal buttons from Cool Crafting  (as used in the jumper on the pattern ) and had them sent here so there was nothing stopping me from making a start with the sewing up.  Well, nothing bar my dislike of sewing up knitting, that is. However, Mini Archie gave me a stern talking to and then pulled on my heartstrings with tales of nithered chums. Naturally, I set to.  At first, ...

Mini Archie’s September Furtle Around The Blogosphere

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something Hello! This month has been a satisfying sock month. I finished the enormous socks: Yarn is  Summer Lake by Mothy And The Squid To show how enormous they are, I took a photo with the size six socks they were travelling with to their new home: I’ve blocked the tiny jumper pieces: And now they’re ready for the (dreaded*) sewing up: (*I’m hoping that doing three of them back to back will cure me of this dread. The sewing up of the test jumper wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I was expecting so I’m hoping to continue that and cure myself.) I got a fantastic new bag from a friend in California which is the perfect sock knitting bag: Here’s what it holds with room to spare: Aren’t the fabrics wonderful? Thank you, Ramona, I adore it! And I turned this sock lucky dip item: Into these socks: I had under two grams of the multi-coloured yarn left at the end, which is very nearly almost as good as just having enough lef...

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something Hello! Gosh, this month has felt quite long but there’s been lots of rain and no ridiculously warm weather so I’ve been happy!  I finished the socks I’d started last month and this photo does not accurately depict the colour of them - Jillian’s photo of the yarn on her website is the one to look at if you’re wondering what they actually look like. Yarn is  Peacock from Mothy And The Squid And I’ve started the pair for her husband: Yarn is  Summer Lake by Mothy And The Squid I sewed up the Luna Lapin jumper after a quick demonstration from a friend and I’m pleased to say it went really well. Her two top tips were to split the yarn and just use three (of the seven) plies for sewing up and to use scrap yarn or similar (I used crochet cotton) to tie certain points together rather than using pins (and snip them open as you come to them) which made a huge difference to how easy it was and meant I didn’t get...

Furtle (v): to have a rummage or delve into the contents of something Hello! Gosh, it’s been a warm month (although fortunately not as warm or as warm for as long as some parts of the country) so knitting has been somewhat limited. I’ve finished the pair of socks I started last month which used three different Made By Penguins yarns And they’re now in the sock drawer waiting for autumn.  This is the non-sparkle pink and the purple. And this is the sparkle pink and purple. I’ve started a pair of socks for a friend  Yarn is Peacock from Mothy And The Squid And the first test Luna Lapin jumper is ready for sewing up. This is going to be sent to Miss Lizzie ’s house for some of her chums to try on to check they’re happy with the fit. They’ll then send their order through, apparently. (Needless to say, this has all been arranged by Mini Archie.) And, months ahead of schedule, I’ve finished my Advent trees! I used Drops Alpaca  in Dark Green, Green Grass, and Olive and got the...
